How to Create a Gallery Wall with J.Pocker
“A gold frame and white matte is like a little black dress and pearls” Robyn Pocker explains. This is the same advice her mother gave her when she first started working in her family’s store. J. Pocker and Son, a third generation family business and synonymous with fine custom framing and prints in NYC, opened its doors in 1926. They treat every piece with the upmost care, whether it be an important painting or family heirloom, there isn’t anything they can’t do!
When clients request a gallery wall, we encouraged them to go to flea markets and antique stores to find unique and interesting pieces. If you’re lucky, the piece will already have a beautiful old frame, but most of the time the frame leaves much to be desired. A really high quality frame can instantly elevate a piece and turn it into a true treasure.
We found this beautiful original piece at Housing Works Thrift Store -one of our all time favorite shops to visit! We knew it would be the anchor of the gallery wall so we wanted to make it special. Splurging on the anchor piece will instantly elevate all the other pieces. It’s all about mixing highs and lows when creating a gallery wall- the more varied the pieces the more interesting story to tell.
We could not be more excited to add our new piece to the wall! Thank to Robyn at J. Pocker for helping us through the process and creating a piece that is truly special and will have from years to come!
